Attendance
Main Attendance Line: 425.431.7781
Students (in cooperation with their parents) have the responsibility for establishing and maintaining prompt and regular attendance as prescribed in the Compulsory Attendance Law of the State of Washington for RCW28A.225.010.
Punctual attendance is the first requirement for success both at MTHS and in the “real” world. A large part of learning takes place during class discussions and participation. Students are expected to be in:
- Their classroom seat and prepared to begin working when the bell rings.
- School every day. Student participation is key to many instructional methods—when students are absent they miss out on that learning.
If a student has excessive absences, a BECCA petition may be filed.
There are 3 Ways to Excuse an Absence: (See below for Early Release Requests)
Enter an Absence through Family Access
Call the Attendance line at 425-431-7781 and leave the following information.
- Indicate the student's name (and spell it)
- Indicate your name

- Reason of Absence
- If student is arriving late, they must sign in at the Attendance Office for the absence to be excused.
Or email one of the Attendance Personnel listed below with the following information.
- Indicate the student's name
- Indicate your name
- Date of Absence
- Reason of Absence
- If student is arriving late, they must sign in at the Attendance Office for the absence to be excused.
Need an Early Release? Have your student bring a parent/guardian note to the Attendance Office before school starts. If you forget to send a note, call the Main Office at 425-431-7776 to request an Early Release for your student. Please DO NOT leave voice or email messages requesting an Early Release. Students are required to sign out in the attendance office before leaving campus. Leaving campus without permission and while school is in session is considered an unexcused absence.
Pre-arranged Absence form
Students must submit the required absent documentation to the Attendance Office five (5) days prior to absence.
