Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Registration Form     

Volunteer service hours are not required by the school, and do not need to be turned in. Students that complete 90+ Volunteer hours can choose to turn in their fully completed forms to the Career Center for up to .5 elective credits.

Volunteer service for credit must be approved by College & Career Specialist prior to completing hoursForms turned in without prior approval may be declined for credit. 

 

Volunteer Opportunities
  • Fircrest School in Shoreline is a residential campus for people with developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or behaviorally challenged. There are a variety of ongoing opportunities for students to assist with Fircrest activities. Check in the Career Center for more information.
  • Sno-King Youth Club - Youth Sport Referees. Basketball and Flag Football.
  • Seattle Aquarium - Check out the High School Volunteer Program with the Seattle Aquarium. For more information visit www.seattleaquarium.org
  • Seattle Children's Hospital - Volunteers have been at the heart of Seattle Children's since their founding fathers. Volunteers at Children's help raise funds, sew clothes, play therapeutic games with children and advocate on behalf of the hospital. You must be 16 years old to volunteer at the hospital. You must be 18 years old to volunteer and have direct patient contact. For more information visit their website at www.seattlechildrens.org or come pick up a volunteer packet in the Career Center.
  • Youth United is looking for volunteers. For more information contact Amy Franklin at youthunited@uwsc.org.

  • Rotary Community Homework Center - Volunteers needed!! Adults and High School Students. Tutoring, help w/homework and access to the internet, fun and educational games, support for parents and families, rental of musical instruments, school supplies and english classes. Hours are 5:30-8:30pm Tuesday's/Thursday's at Terrace Park School (5409 228th ST SW, Mountlake Terrace WA 98043). Call Pat with questions at 425.279.3739.

    Volunteer Opportunities with the Libraries:

    • Mountlake Terrace Library - Various volunteer opportunities. Come in and talk to Ms. Lee in the Career Center for more information.

    • Sno-isle Library Volunteer at your local Sno-Isle Library. Join a local teen advisory group, find "lost" books, put books in carts in order, "read" the shelves, and have flexible days and hours. Email npatton@sno-isle.org in the Career Center for more information

    Volunteer Opportunities with Local Rotaries:

    • Rotary Hispanic Center - Tutoring on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Mountlake Terrace. Contact Pat Cordova (425) 775-6362 for more information.

    Volunteer Opportunities w/ Local Non-Profits:

    • Concern for Neighbors Food Bank- Volunteers needed on Monday's to sort food. Contact www.concern4neighborsfb.org for more information.

    • Lifelong AIDS Alliance - Lifelong AIDS Alliance is currently looking to expand our volunteer base and would love to add students to their list of current volunteers! Lifelong has a variety of opportunities and are particularly looking for food delivery drivers. They also welcome groups and also provide service learning opportunities.     • Seattle Aquarium - To be considered for this school year, you must contact the Seattle Aqaurium at (206) 386-4351 or email questions to aquateens@seattleaqaurium.org.
