8th Grade Registration

Welcome class of 2028! 

Course Requests are now closed.  Schedules will be available prior to the first day of school in September.

We can't wait to meet you!  Below is every piece of information you will need in planning for picking courses for high school. 

Please read through this page (and linked pages) carefully as MTHS counselors are not able to provide support to current 8th grade students or families.

Course Selection

The good news for you is that course selection for current 8th graders is very simple

It is strongly recommended that you consult your current teachers if you are considering requesting honors courses.  

Select each of the following (MTHS uses a six period day):

  1. English 9 or English 9 Honors (2 semesters)
  2. Biology or Biology Honors (2 semesters)
  3. Algebra 1 or another math course (2 semesters)
    • If you think you should register for another math course (Geometry for example), you must first consult with your current Math teacher
  4. World History 9 or World History 9 Honors (1 semester) PLUS Health CTE or Health (1 semester)
  5. Electives (2 semesters - can be the same or different)
    • World Language (2 semesters) or
    • PE or
    • CTE/STEM or
    • Art/Music
  6. Electives (2 semesters - can be the same or different)
    • PE or
    • CTE/STEM or
    • Art

You must also request four alternatives for any electives.

Once you have your requests, you will need to enter them in Skyward.  Instructions are available here.

COURSE GUIDE

STEM

The Magnet Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Program at Mountlake Terrace High School is an Edmonds School District program of choice that provides a 4-year study program immersed in STEM studies and learning experiences. 

Students in the STEM program must consult with the STEM program regarding decisions around course selection.
