Award Winners
Evergreen Teen Book Award – was created to give teens in the state a voice in deciding the best literature aimed at their age group.
Young Reader’s Choice Award – every student should have an opportunity to select a book that gives him or her pleasure. Award is sponsored by the Pacific Northwest Library Association. It is also the only international award with young readers in both the United States and Canada participating in the program.
Michael L Printz Medal – an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.
William C. Morris Debut Award – honors the accomplishments of a first-time author whose debut book has made an impact in young adult literature.
The Coretta Scott King Book Award – given annually to outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values.
The Pura Belpré Award – given to a Latino/Latina author and illustrator to recognize their literary or artistic talent and their efforts to portray the Latino culture.
Walter Dean Myers Award – recognizes diverse authors (or co-authors) whose works feature diverse main characters and address diversity in a meaningful way.
Alex Awards – given to ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults, ages 12 through 18. The winning titles are selected from the previous year’s publishing.

Purpose: In partnership with Sno-Isle Libraries, the Edmonds School District is offering (free) student accounts to any student residing within the Sno-Isle service area. With these accounts, students will be able to access the full Sno-Isle Libraries physical and digital collection, homework help, research databases, streaming content, and much more. Students may add their Sno-Isle account to SORA [link to SORA page] to check out an additional 30 ebooks or audiobooks at a time.
Please note that families must opt their students in to this program via a form in Skyward. For detailed instructions on opting in, activating this account, and signing in, please click the student or family button below.
Audience: K-12 Edmonds School District Students who live within the Sno-Isle service area. Students receiving McKinney Vento services are eligible regardless of the address listed in Skyward.
